Period End | Payroll | NZ IR Schedule | Payday Filing

When you process a pay run, the data (or batch) required for payday filing is created. This topic describes how to send this information to Inland Revenue.

Before you begin

Before you use payday filing, ensure you have completed the Payday filing setups.

To use payday filing you will need:

  • myIR credentials to log in to the myIR portal. This must be the account owner or person authorised to submit payday filing. See Get it done online on the IR website.

Submitting a payday filing batch to IR

You must start payday filing for the first pay in a calendar month and you must submit each batch after you process pays. You should not process pays again without submitting the previous batch.

To submit a payday filing batch to IR:

  1. In Attaché Payroll, process a pay run as usual.
  2. Choose Payroll | Period End | NZ IR Schedule | Payday Filing.
  3. Log in to myIR.
  4. The first time you use payday filing, give consent for Attaché Software to send your payroll information to myIR. Once done, you must payday file within two working days of the date paid for every pay run.
  5. In the Batch Details screen, review the batch details and correct any errors.
  6. Click Submit.

The batch is now sent to IR and the batch status changes from Ready to IR Pending. If you need to work on a previous batch, click Go to Batch List where you can select another batch to submit.

Managing batches

A batch is generated in your online organisation each time you process a pay in your payroll company. We recommend that you check Returns in myIR from time to time so you can address any issues with a batch if required.

Batch statusDescription

Ready to Submit

Batches with a status of Ready to Submit are ready to submit to IR.

Errors Detected

Batches with a status of Errors Detected indicates one or more error in the employee’s data. View the validation message(s) displayed in the Batch Details screen for more information. Once you’ve fixed all errors, the batch status will change to Ready to Submit and you can submit the batch.

IR Pending

Batches with a status of IR Pending have been submitted and are awaiting a response from IR.

IR Rejected

Batches with a status of IR Rejected require your attention. Once you’ve fixed all errors, resubmit the batch to IR.

IR Confirmed

Once a batch has been accepted by IR the status changes to IR Confirmed.

Reversed

If you reverse a batch that has previously been submitted, the amounts in the batch are zeroed out in myIR and the batch status is changed to Reversed. Batches with the status Reversed do not display in the Monthly Payable Report.

Consolidated (displayed on the Available Batches for Consolidation screen)

A batch with the status of Consolidated has been consolidated with one or more other batches. To view the details of the consolidated batch and its sub-batches, run the EI Return Report from the Batch Details screen.
